Directed Writing- Interview of an Indian teacher in Britain.
Why did you choose this job?
While the idea of me working in Britain by itself was overwhelmingly incogitable, the recruiting agencies made it seem so unattainably beatific that I felt like if I lost out on this opportunity, I would regret it forever. On top of that, the brochures which the agents gave me made Britain seem like the Elysium I had been waiting for my whole life! And oh my god! The money I was promised was so much more than what I was earning back home, it was incontrovertible that I had to say yes.
What are the problems you faced in this profession here?
The first problem I noticed was the rambunctious behavior of the students. Back home, there was no need to demand respect, It automatically came to us. Teachers were considered one of the most important people in a child's life, and what I saw here was the farthest thing from the amicable angels I expected to teach. It took a long time to get over the immense disrespect and insults the students shot at us, they would always be bawling and fighting. I had taught the most adamant and impertinent students in my country, but what I faced here started where my imagination ended. Moreover, The salary I got after enduring this endless torcher and mortification, was nowhere near enough to compensate for the expenses of living here, let alone the stress and workload. All my expectations were thwarted the moment I stepped foot into the classroom, The moment I saw the wildly out of control chaos.
What would you suggest for these conditions to improve?
While this shouldn't have gotten so out of control in the first place, I still believe that things can be better. The government has already decided to impose a fine upon those students who disrespect the teachers and continue to behave in a barbaric manner. After years of fortitude the teachers of Britain have finally decided to take action, we all have been protesting for better salaries and if this is not given to us, a strike is inevitable, because, as I'm sure I've proven, we deserve it.
P.S
I wasn't able to find a suitable picture for this, and I wrote this for a test (duh) I think I made a pretty good argument right?
